What Makes America Great!

Today, I needed just a few items to buy from the grocery store-three items, essentially. I enjoy riding my bicycle because the store is so nearby. It allows me to slow down and enjoy nature, time and the fresh air.

However, this is Labor day weekend, and it's busier than usual. I was so not up for waiting. Which is why I like to grab my items I know I enjoy cooking with when I go to the store, or go during the weekday when everyone is working, but I digress.

Anyhow, I decided to go to another nearby farmer's market I recall seeing in my new neighborhood. I bought everything else, but what I needed. I spent way more money than I intended. I was caught up in the attitude of getting everything now at the store while there is no crowd. Also, I wanted to try some new cultural snacks and drinks. I left there feeling very disappointed at how much I spent and didn't even get my essential items. I went to another farmer's market down the same street. No luck finding my items, but it was nice to browse around this ethnic store and see what they had available.

I did not lose hope, and said I will take the opposite way home, maybe there is a farmer's market on the way back. And, there was. Although I wasn't able to get one item I needed, I found one of my other essential items and even more-like the Chadon Benie, a plant from Trinidad, and some of my favorite cultural snacks and drinks.

THE MORAL OF MY STORY:

While I was upset about spending more money, than I desired, because I was impatient to wait at another store there was something good I can take from this experience. On the positive side when I reflect on the experience, I paid for a discovery and adventure. I discovered two Hispanic farmers and meat markets and a Caribbean farmer's and meat market on the same street. Now where else, but in America can we enjoy such cultural experiences, foods and privileges so conveniently available. While I already had my food reviews and pictures written. I thought it would be cool to share this story. How befitting for the point I make in the image below. Enjoy.
